Share your OpenSky calendars with Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook and other apps.

OpenSky can share your schedule with Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook, and family displays like Skylight that accept a calendar link. It can also bring an outside calendar in, so classes, sports and family commitments sit beside your lessons while you plan. Both live on the same page.

## Sharing a calendar

1. Click your profile icon and go to **Settings**, then **Calendar Integrations** in the left nav.
2. Under **Share OpenSky calendars**, expand the calendar you want: **Whole family**, or a single student.
3. Under **Include:**, tick what the calendar should show.
4. Copy the link, or click **Google Calendar**, **Apple Calendar** or **Outlook** to add it in one step.

## Choosing a calendar

- **Whole family** — everyone's schedule in one calendar. With more than one student, each course entry is prefixed with the student's name.
- **One per student** — just that student. Useful for a grandparent, a tutor, or an older student with their own phone.

Subscribe to as many as you like; each keeps its own settings. Parent profiles do not get a calendar of their own.

## Choosing what to show

- **School days** — an all-day marker on each teaching day.
- **Holidays** — breaks and days off.
- **Events** — activities, co-ops, field trips and other events, including repeating ones.
- **Courses** — the lessons scheduled for each course, one entry per course per day. A course with a scheduled time appears at that time; one without appears as an all-day event. Several lessons on one day combine into one entry, such as "Algebra I — 3 lessons".

At least one box must be ticked. Times use your household's timezone, which the page shows.

> **Changing a checkbox changes the link.** A calendar app that already has the old link keeps showing the old selection. Copy the new link and add it again.

## Keeping links private

Anyone with a link can view that calendar. If one is shared by mistake, click **Regenerate all links**. Every link on the page is replaced at once, for every student, and anything subscribed to an old link stops updating until you add the new one.

## Importing an outside calendar

1. On the same page, under **Import calendars**, click **Add calendar link**.
2. Paste the calendar's address into **Calendar URL**. In Google Calendar, find it under Settings → your calendar → Integrate calendar → **Secret address in iCal format**. In Apple Calendar or Outlook, use the calendar's public or shared link. Addresses starting with https:// or webcal:// both work.
3. Optionally add a **Calendar name** and pick a color.
4. Under **Show for**, choose **Everyone** or pick specific students and parents.
5. Click **Import calendar**.

OpenSky checks the address before saving. If it does not work, you see the reason and nothing is added. A household can import up to five calendars, and only parents can add or change them. Treat the address like a password: anyone who has it can see that calendar, and OpenSky never shows it again after you add it.

## What imported events do

Imported events are reference only. They appear on the checklist and planner for the people you chose, and on printed checklists, so you can see what else is happening on a day. They cannot be completed, graded, dragged or rescheduled in OpenSky, they do not count toward attendance, they do not move lesson scheduling, and they are not included in the calendars you share out. To change one, edit it in the calendar it came from.

Each calendar refreshes about every four hours. The row's **⋯** menu has **Refresh now** to pull changes immediately, **Edit assignees** to change who sees it, and **Remove**. The **Enabled** switch hides a calendar's events without deleting it, which suits a season that has ended. The address itself cannot be edited; remove the calendar and add it again. If a calendar stops responding, the events already imported stay until it works again.

If a calendar's repeating events are not brought in, OpenSky tells you how many it skipped when you add it, and the page shows a note while that is the case.

## Frequently asked questions

### How often does a shared calendar update?
Your calendar app decides. Most check every few hours and some take up to a day, so a change in OpenSky can take a while to show up elsewhere. Imported calendars go the other way and refresh about every four hours, or at once with **Refresh now**.

### Can I import the same calendar twice?
No. OpenSky tells you if an address is already in the list. Very large calendars, over 5 MB or about 10,000 events, are refused; subscribe to a narrower calendar instead of a combined one.

### How do I add the link by hand in Google Calendar?
On a computer, open Google Calendar, click **+** next to **Other calendars**, choose **From URL**, paste the link and click **Add calendar**.

### How do I add it in Apple Calendar?
On a Mac, choose **File → New Calendar Subscription**, paste the link and click **Subscribe**. On an iPhone or iPad, go to **Settings → Calendar → Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Subscribed Calendar**, paste the link, tap **Next**, then **Save**.

### How do I add it in Outlook?
On Outlook.com, open the calendar, click **Add calendar → Subscribe from web**, paste the link, name it and click **Import**. In the desktop app, use **Add Calendar → From Internet**.

### Does it work with Skylight or Cozyla?
Yes. Any product that accepts a calendar URL works. Copy the link from the Calendar Integrations page and paste it into the other product.
