Enroll in Courses

Once you've set up your calendar and added courses, it's time to enroll your students! This guide will walk you through the enrollment process and help you get your students' schedules up and running.

Overview

Enrolling a student in a course creates a personalized schedule based on your calendar, the course structure, and your pacing preferences. OpenSky automatically generates lesson schedules and tracks progress throughout the year.

Before You Begin

Make sure you have:

• ✅ Set up your calendar with school days and breaks
• ✅ Added courses to your course library
• ✅ Created student profiles for each child

Step 1: Navigate to Student Profile

1. Click on the name of the Student from the main nav bar
2. Click Add Course

Step 2: Select the Course

1. Use the dropdown to browse your course library
2. Click on the course you want to enroll the student in

Step 3: Configure Enrollment Settings

Basic Settings

1. Select days of week

   • Choose which days the student should do this course

2. Start Date

   • Choose when the student should begin this course
   • Can be a Custom date, either today, in the future, or in the past if you're starting OpenSky mid-school year
   • Can be First day of school which will take the date from your school calendar

3. Lesson frequency

   • OpenSky helps you meet your goal for finishing a course
   • Some parents wants to finish by a certain date, some don't feel the need to finish at all

   Complete by end of school year

   • OpenSky will automatically pace the course to finish by the end of school calendar, doubling up lessons where needed

   Fixed lessons per day

   • Allows you to schedule a fixed about of lessons per day the course is scheduled

   Complete by date

   • Similar to complete by end of school year, OpenSky will auto-pace the course so you complete by this date. This is good for something you want to finish in a semester for example

Step 4: Review the Generated Schedule

After configuring settings, OpenSky generates a schedule:

1. View the Schedule
   • From the Enrolled courses tab of the Students profile, click a course name and you will see a list of lessons by date
2. Ensure Completed Lessons are up to date
   • If a student has already completed some of the course, mark those lessons as complete

Edit Enrollment

1. At anytime you can adjust how a course is paced via the Edit enrollement option
2. Changing a courses pacing will never impact completed lessons
