Enroll partway through a curriculum and mark the lessons you have already finished.

Enroll the course with the date you really began it, then tell OpenSky which lesson you are on. Earlier lessons are marked complete and the rest of the course reschedules from there.

## Telling OpenSky which lesson you are on

1. Add the course as usual, using the date you actually started as the **Start date**. See [Scheduling first lesson](https://www.openskyplanner.com/support/scheduling-first-lesson).
2. Open the student's **Enrollments** tab and expand the course. Lessons between the start date and today show an **Overdue** badge, with the earliest marked **First Overdue Lesson**. This is expected.
3. Find the lesson your student is ready to do next and click its status badge. Choose **Move to be next lesson**.
4. In **Change which lesson you're on**, check the lesson under **Step 1 · Which lesson are you on?** and pick a date under **Step 2 · What date should it start?**: **Next teaching day**, or **Custom date**. If a custom date is not a teaching day for this course, OpenSky says so and suggests the next one.
5. Click **Confirm**.

## What happens

- Every earlier lesson that was not already done is marked complete. Completion dates are spread backward across the course's real teaching days, so records show the work the way it happened rather than piled on one date.
- The lesson you chose becomes the next lesson, pinned to the date you picked.
- Everything after it reschedules forward at the course's normal pace.

The course row then shows **Upcoming lessons are manually pinned to dates.** with a **Reset scheduling** button. That pin holds your chosen lesson on its date; leave it unless you want OpenSky to re-plan from the start date again.

## Other ways to mark earlier work

The same status menu offers **Mark complete** for one lesson and **Mark all prior complete** for everything before it. These record completion on each lesson's scheduled date (or today, if that date is in the future) and move nothing, so they suit a course already on the right dates.

## If you see an error

**New date would put lessons out of order** means the date you picked falls before a lesson that is already complete. Choose a later date, or an earlier lesson as your starting point.
