Upload work to a lesson and find it again in the Resource Library.

Any file uploaded to a lesson, by a student or a parent, is a submission: a photo of the finished page, a typed essay, a scanned worksheet. It stays with the lesson, collects in the **Resource Library**, and is ready for the student's portfolio.

## Uploading from the lesson drawer

1. Open the lesson from **Today** or **Upcoming**.
2. Scroll to **Student Submissions**.
3. Click **Upload** and choose a file, or drag one onto the dashed area.

One file uploads at a time, up to 10MB. Images (JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP), PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, text and CSV files are accepted. Both students and parents can upload, so you can add a photo of work done on paper yourself.

Uploading does not change the lesson's status. Handing a lesson in for checking is a separate step; see [Submit for review](https://www.openskyplanner.com/support/submit-for-review).

## Uploading from Focus

In the **Focus** layout, click **Upload work** under the lesson card. The **Upload work** panel takes a dragged photo or file, or **Choose a file**, and lists what has been uploaded so far. See [Checklist layouts](https://www.openskyplanner.com/support/layouts).

## What each upload shows

Every submission in the drawer shows the file name, the uploader's initials and the date, with three buttons:

- A preview button, for images, PDFs and other files a browser can display.
- A download button.
- A delete button. The person who uploaded a file or any parent can delete it. Deleting removes the file for good.

## Who hears about it

An upload adds a line to **Homeschool Activity** on the home page: "{Name} uploaded a file to {Lesson}", with the lesson title opening the drawer. The **File uploaded** notification can also announce it by email, in-app and push. It is off by default for parents and students alike. See [Notifications](https://www.openskyplanner.com/support/notifications).

## In the Resource Library

Click **Resources** in the sidebar and choose the **Student Submissions** filter. Each row reads, for example, "PDF • 1.2 MB • Submitted by Sue", or "Teacher upload for Sue" when a parent added it. **Linked Courses** names the course and lesson it was uploaded to, and the row has the same preview and download buttons as the drawer. Search, the course filter and the sort options all apply.

Submissions are records of work rather than teaching materials, so they cannot be attached to another lesson from the resource picker. Deleting one from the lesson drawer removes it from the library too. The library is a parent view; students see their uploads in the lesson itself. See [Resource library](https://www.openskyplanner.com/support/resources).

## In portfolios

**Generate portfolio** on the gradebook has a **Student Work** section that gathers the student's uploads for the chosen term on its own. **Add resource** opens **Add Student Work**, listing that student's uploads, if you want to include more. See [Generating a Portfolio](https://www.openskyplanner.com/support/generating-a-portfolio).
