Curriculum Library

The Curriculum section is where you browse your added courses and bring new curriculum into OpenSky quickly and accurately.

Browsing Existing Curriculum

You'll see a list of all courses you've already created or imported. From here, you can:

  • Open a course
  • Edit the structure
  • Review lesson counts

But the real time-saver comes from Community Templates.

Using Community Templates

OpenSky lets parents help one another through shared templates.

To find a curriculum template:

  1. Search by publisher, book title, or curriculum name
  2. OpenSky shows matching curriculum records and available community templates
  3. View the template to make sure it aligns with your edition or table of contents
  4. Click Select Template to open the course editor with the entire outline pre-populated

This reduces setup time dramatically — often from hours to minutes. OpenSky automatically hides copyrighted course content from Community Templates, and only allows parents to share copyright-free course structures. You still need to purchase curriculum to use it!

Creating Your Own Templates

If you don't find a Community Template that matches your needs, or the one available doesn't meet your standards, OpenSky encourages parents to:

  1. Upload their curriculum
  2. Build their course
  3. Publish a template back to the community

Every new shared template makes things easier for the next family.

Common Questions

Q: Are Community Templates verified for accuracy? A: Templates are created by fellow homeschool parents. Always review the template against your edition's table of contents before using it.

Q: What if I add copyrighted material to the Lesson descriptions or Lesson content sections? A: OpenSky only shares lesson titles and numbering via Community Templates. When you publish a template, Lesson descriptions & Lesson content sections are never shared.

Q: Can I edit a community template after importing it? A: Yes! Once you select a template, it becomes your own course and you can customize it however you like.

Q: How do I share my curriculum as a template? A: After building a course, you'll have the option to publish the outline as a Community Template. This makes it available for other families using the same curriculum.

Q: What if my curriculum edition is slightly different from the template? A: Import the closest match and use the Course Editor to make adjustments. This is still faster than building from scratch.
