Invite other parents
Invite another parent or guardian to manage the homeschool alongside you.
Updated
Any number of parents or guardians can manage your homeschool with you. Each one gets full access, including billing, and none of them counts as a student.
Inviting a parent#
- Click the three dots '...' near your profile icon and go to Settings, then Parent Access in the left nav.
- Click Add Parent.
- Enter their Parent email and click Send invite.
They receive an email. Opening the link shows who invited them and to which school. They set a password, click Create account, and sign in. From then on they see everything you see.
An invite lasts 7 days. Sending another invite to the same address resends the email. Until it is accepted, the row shows Invited and its … menu offers Revoke.
The email address must not already belong to an OpenSky account. If the person already has one, invite them at a different address.
What a parent can do#
There is one parent role. Every parent can add students and courses, schedule, grade, change settings and manage billing.
A parent is also a person in OpenSky, not just an administrator:
- They can be added to an event and tick it off when it is done.
- They keep their own book list.
- They appear under Parents wherever you pick people, which is why those pickers say People rather than "Students".
- They fill in their own profile, and a portfolio can include either parent.
To see a parent's checklist, open the person menu in the checklist toolbar and choose their name.
What a parent is not#
A parent is never enrolled in a school year, so they do not appear in attendance, the gradebook, transcripts, or the per-student calendar links on the Calendar Integrations page. You will not find them under Manage Students either.
