Community templates

Find courses other families have shared and add them to your own plan.

Updated

Community templates basic lesson structures for curricula that other families have built in OpenSky. You still need to purchase the curriculum to get any use out of these templates. Using one saves you typing out a table of contents, and you can edit everything after you enroll.

Finding a template#

  1. Open Courses in the sidebar. The Community Templates tab opens first.
  2. Search by title or publisher, or narrow the list with All Publishers and All Subjects.
  3. Click View community template on a row to see its grade range, length, subject and full Table of Contents.

A row marked No community template yet is a curriculum OpenSky knows about that nobody has built lessons for.

Adding one to your plan#

  • Enroll a Student opens the Add form with the lessons filled in. Pick the student, set the schedule and click Add. See Courses.
  • Copy to My Templates (in the row's menu, or Add to My Templates in the details view) puts a copy in your My Templates tab to edit or reuse later.

Enrolling always works from a copy, so changes you make in the course editor never affect the shared template or other families.

The same catalog appears inside the Add form under Community template, which searches as you type a course title. When nothing matches every word, OpenSky shows Close matches instead.

Reporting a problem#

Open the template details and click Report issue to tell us about wrong or missing lessons.

Sharing your own#

Templates you build help the library grow. Open a template from My Templates; the pencil beside its title opens Edit course details, and under Advanced the switch Help improve OpenSky's template library is on by default. We use anonymized template data to improve what families find in the community library. Turn it off for any template you want to keep to yourself.

To make a template from a course you have already enrolled, open Courses, Enrolled Courses, and click Copy to My Templates on the row.
